HAZOFF TAKES OFF

The HAZOFF campaign took another step forward on February 5th and 6th at the Event Production Show, Olympia, London. We were given a temporary home on the PSA stand and sallied forth spreading the word, newsletters and badges to exhibitors and visitors alike.

SUPPORTERS

The reception was more than 99% positive with only one person determined to keep using his hazard lights. We also made some good contacts adding many new supporters to the list of festivals, shows, suppliers, organisations and individual event professionals already signed up.

Since the newsletter went to print we have added Womad and T in the Park to the major festivals supporting the campaign. There are also another couple which need to go through some formalities before we can add their names to the list.

MAKING IT HAPPEN IN 2012

We will soon be writing to various industry sectors suggesting how they can play their part in making it happen in 2013. It will not cost a penny because, like most good ideas, it is stunningly simple

1. Decide to do it

and

2. Tell everyone in your organisation. Easy!

It does not cost anything to add it to your formal plans and include it in briefings to staff. All you need do is add a sentence or two to the briefing.

“We operate a HAZOFF policy on our site and do not ask people to turn their hazard lights on when they arrive. We also ask those who have them on to turn them off so that they can use their indicators”

How simple is that?

Displaying signage will help reinforce the message and we will be making gate signs and windscreen stickers available as soon as we can get them produced. If you cannot wait, you can download signs and stickers from the download page.

Sign up to the campaign here and we will keep you updated with developments. If you have any ideas about how to promote the campaign to other sectors of the event industry email us.

SPONSORSHIP (Can’t afford to sponsor? Make a small donation)

HAZOFF is a popular campaign and anyone who contributes to stopping this dangerous and pointless practice will have the thanks of the whole industry (except possibly one chap who shall remain nameless). The sponsorship opportunities are really rather special. The campaign is a unique opportunity to be associated with a cause close to the hearts of those in the festival business.

One of the items we are in the process of producing are gate signs. With the industry behind the campaign, the gate sign sponsor will get exposure to the cream of the event industry by having prominent branding on large signs at the entrances to festival sites.

We are also looking for sponsors for vehicle windscreen stickers and posters, so if you want to get you name in front of thousands of festival production professionals for a ludicrously small investment let us know.

We would love to hear how you are implementing the HAZOFF policy at your event.

Here’s to a Blink-Free summer, watch this space…
